Quantum computers are a new type of computer that can perform certain tasks much faster than the best supercomputers ever will be able to do. In the past few years, quantum computing has developed into a multibillion-dollar industry with significant demand for skilled employees. This growth and investment is driven by the transformational impacts that quantum computing will have on various fields of science, security, and business.

In this joint St. Mary's College of Maryland Natural Science and Mathematics Colloquium and Quantum Tunnel webinar, Joshua Grossman, Professor of Physics at St. Mary's College of Maryland, will share an overview of some of these diverse applications and the projected timeline for when quantum computers will achieve the relevant capabilities.
